First session: Saturday 20 September.
Next month local residents are getting together to transform the rather scrubby and weedy entrance to Hither Green Station.
The Hither Green Association and FUSS are inviting residents to join them in preparing the area for a new meadow. Now there’s a thing!
The multiple embankments at Hither Green Station form a key part of the Green Corridor allowing plants and animals species to move from rural Kent into the City and back.
The embankments and railway sidings are home to several plant species not found elsewhere in the Borough, and over the past two years a hedgehog colony has moved into the Springbank Road embankment.
This new project is a chance for the Staplehurst Road side to catch up being done on Springbank Road. It is hoped the new meadow habitat will attract butterflies and bees as well as be a a darn site more attractive than the litter-strewn weed-fest which currently greets commuters.
Boots and all equipment will be provided, just bring yourselves and en energy drink or two!!
