This Saturday 20,000 people are expected to descend on Mountsfield Park for the annual People’s Day Festival. 2013 sees the return of the festival after a year off last year thanks to the Big Olympic Screen on Blackheath.
While the residents of Stainton Road, George Lane and other surrounding streets endure the noise and parking restrictions- the rest of us get to enjoy the music, food and dance tents- for free.
Events will be arranged in special areas around the park: Yellow area Nostalgia acts tend to top the bill at these sort of events. Hyde Park got the Rolling Stones, and SE6 gets ‘Musical Youth’- those Princes of the 1980s.
Green Area: New bands, drama, story telling
Blue area Active area- zumba, dance for life, bmx freestyle displays
Red area The youth village and craft market
